Cary DeCamp

Managing Director

A passion for sustainable living and well-designed spaces has led Cary to become a Phius Certified Builder (CPHB) and focus his energy in nurturing Kala, a company focused on cost-effectively bringing the experience of a certified passive home to as many new homeowners as possible.

Cary brings 30 years of entrepreneurial experience in the technology industry to the home building business. As a co-founder of Perceptive Software, he helped build an enterprise software company into a global competitor with customers in 67 countries and more than 1,000 employees. As CMO of Lexmark Enterprise Software, he led a diverse team in establishing a strong, recognized brand presence and executing a successful global marketing strategy across hardware and software. Cary continues to work with and invest in technology startups, but hasn’t forgotten his early years working on a commercial chicken farm, in public radio, and, briefly, as an accountant.

Outside of the office Cary enjoys playing and listening to music, dabbling in photography, traveling, reading, and cooking. He’s involved in the greater Kansas City fine arts and music community, including serving on the Kansas City Symphony’s board of directors and the board of directors at his alma mater, Union College.

What does generous mean to Cary?

Doing what you are capable of doing without reservation. Being generous is different to everyone. Some people are capable of doing more than others, and that’s okay. Everyone is different.
