Jesse Crupper

Principal Architect

Jesse Crupper, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, is a Principal Architect at Kala with a unique and impactful approach to ecological design and a passion for sustainable solutions. Growing up surrounded by brothers, Jesse found himself immersed in an active and adventurous lifestyle, engaging in activities such as backyard boxing, acrobatics, wrestling, and even machete play (though we’re still not quite sure what that means).

In his pursuit of a more sustainable future, Jesse and his wife Lauren saved a midtown home from demo, self-performing a gut rehab and installing their own solar array on their home, reflecting his commitment to reducing the environmental impact of our built environment. Unlike many architects, Jesse's path to architecture was not a lifelong calling. He discovered his passion in his twenties, driven by an ecological design standpoint and a green mindset, recognizing the immense impact our built environment has on the climate.

Jesse's unconventional journey led him to apply exclusively to the country’s top five ecological design schools, ultimately choosing the University of Oregon for his graduate studies. Graduating in his late 20s, Jesse embarked on his architectural career with a fresh perspective and a determination to make a difference.

Jesse actively engages with the community, seeking opportunities to contribute beyond his desk. He serves on the boards of organizations such as USGBC Central Plains, the Industrial Design Authority of the EDCKC, the Strategic Planning Committee of AIAKC, and the Climate Environmental Council with MARC. These roles reflect Jesse's desire to build relationships and make a broader impact in the community.

Jesse's passion for people is evident in his work, as he sees architecture as a deeply personal endeavor. He recognizes that buildings shape our daily experiences, and this drives him to deliver exceptional work that resonates with individuals and communities alike.
