John Springer

John Springer earned a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. After a brief stint working on power plant air quality systems, John pivoted professionally and went into construction. Starting his own remodeling company enabled him to pursue his passion for making things, which he also applied when working for a contractor in Chicago. 

Moving back to Kansas City, John started a construction firm, met Kala co-founder David Schleicher, and teamed up with him on several projects. After more than two decades in residential building and remodeling, John switched to commercial construction building multi-family and senior living centers. Realizing he preferred constructing high-quality homes, he had a desire to get back to the residential side. John’s friend, who worked at Kala, started telling him about the company’s commitment to creating homes that last a hundred years or more. 

John reconnected with David and began talking about sustainable building with several of his colleagues. He realized he could bring all his expertise to bear as the chief construction officer. When not on a jobsite, John enjoys spending time with his wife and children, golfing, and discovering new and unique music from around the world.
