Mike "Bear" Barrett

Mike “Bear” Barrett has always had a strong work ethic. When he was 13, he started his own fencing company. Then when he got into ninth grade, he swept the shop, tidied up tools, and hung signs for a firm that made business signage. Once he graduated from high school, Mike got a gig driving a dump truck for a homebuilder and then worked on a framing crew. This helped prepare him for high-end house remodeling, which he did successfully for 28 years. 

Mike’s younger brother (one of his five siblings) asked him to work together at his commercial construction company, exposing Mike to other aspects of the building trade. He retired in July 2024 but not for long. That September, his friend David Schleicher coaxed him back into a construction manager role at Kala. 



In his spare time, Mike collects antique rifles that he usually purchases at auction. He was also an avid ultimate frisbee player, although he claims he has hung up his disc for good. Mike is also a trained Reiki professional.
