The Finish Carpenter is responsible for executing finish details on new homes and remodels to the highest quality. The Finish Carpenter’s goal is to provide a finish equal to Kala’s energy efficiency standard. The Finish Carpenter will be expected to deliver high quality interior trim carpentry, but will also work on a variety of projects from light framing, exterior work, or anything needed to finish a project. The Finish Carpenter will communicate daily with Project Carpenter to maintain overall project schedules and objectives. They will be expected to be part of a team, but also be able to maintain a project unsupervised and guide apprentice carpenters.


Kala will ensure you are certified as necessary, receive the continuing education required, and are trained in high-performance building particulars. Responsibilities

  • Inspect the condition of materials delivered to jobsite before installation and communicate with relevant stakeholders if material is substandard
  • Skilled in a wide variety of carpentry techniques with an eye for detail
  • Maintain clean and safe working conditions onsite
  • All work executed will be of the highest quality
  • Door and window installation and trim, fitting interior doors, wainscoting, crown molding, stair and handrail installation, and cabinet installation
  • Perform project detailing to include; ensuring continuous insulation and air barrier, post window install details, small carpentry detailing, touchup, punch list, material management, small trade tasks, and assisting subcontractors as needed


Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and proper insurance 
  • Ability to use a ladder, operate hand tools and lift up to 50lbs 
  • Must be aware of building codes, design standards and inspection regulations
  • High School required. Post secondary training highly encouraged 
  • 5 years of carpentry experience
  • Learn and use new technology, including Apple programs and apps
  • Handle multiple priorities, duties, and responsibilities simultaneously
  • Adapt and respond to changing work objectives and priorities
  • Strong leadership skills with high ethical and moral standards
